Our History
Over a century of faith, community, and service in Geneva, Ohio
Geneva First United Methodist Church has been a cornerstone of faith in our community for over a century. Our story is one of dedication, growth, and unwavering commitment to sharing God's love with all who seek it.
Early Beginnings
Methodist worship in Geneva, Ohio began in the mid-1800s when a small group of faithful believers gathered in homes and public buildings to worship together. Their dedication to the Wesleyan tradition of combining personal faith with social action laid the foundation for our church.
Building Our Home
As the congregation grew, the need for a permanent home became clear. Our current location at 89 South Broadway has served as the center of worship and community life for generations. The building has been lovingly maintained and improved over the years to serve our growing church family.
Growth & Ministry
Throughout the 20th century, Geneva First UMC expanded its ministries to include Sunday School programs, youth groups, music ministry, and community outreach. We became known not just as a place of worship, but as a center for service and fellowship in the greater Geneva area.
Today & Tomorrow
Today, under the leadership of Pastor Pam Buzalka, we continue to honor our heritage while embracing new ways to share God's love. Our blended worship service combines the best of traditional and contemporary elements, and we remain committed to our mission of Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.
